Featured as part of the educational services offered at The Children’s I.N.V.E.S.T.M.E.N.T Zone, Inc.

The Girls' T.H.R.I.V.E session’s give our girls of color a safe place to land and discover the gifts within them. T.H.R.I.V.E is an acronym:  Talking, Heart to Heart building Relationships through Interventions and Valuable Engagements!

Sessions include:

1.    You Don’t Know My Story- this where the girls create spoken word monologues, dramatic prose, poetry, rap and songs that deal with their daily reality. They are also given a chance to perform the original pieces in an annual fundraising community program and in juvenile detention facilities when requested.  Publishing is a goal of this session.

2.    We [Girl’s] Talk You [Adult’s] Listen- this is where the girls  grouped by maturity level play a challenge game with the adults in their lives; guardians, adult siblings, relatives and adults in power they may have challenges with. The challenge is designed to be a safe landing place for the difficult conversations many of our girls need to have with a trusted adult.

3.   STTP-School to Prison Pipeline Workshop- Revised for the State of Oklahoma and (Created by the New York Civil Liberties Union www.nyclu.org )
